Giving Your Room the Extra Edge

Our team want to make you aware of 5 quick tips to upgrade your room and give it that extra edge you are looking for. Transform your property from ‘nice’ to ‘amazing’ in no time at all!

One of the biggest challenges with creating the wow factor is the need to make a change without straying too far from your personal style and without breaking the bank. Although you may have some ideas yourself on what makes a house a home, Stuart Wylie have years of experience in the trade and can provide you with 5 of our tips from the experts.

1.      Murals

Adding murals to any room brings a sense of depth and inspiration. By building your room around a mural you can create the perfect atmosphere and a stunning piece of artwork in the same movement.

Create a focal point with printed wall panels”, The Room Edit.

Use the mural to guide your choice of furniture, lighting and colour schemes and the whole room will work together in harmony. Murals add drama, colour and design to your room and with so many available on the market, why would you not want one installed by Stuart Wylie?

2.      Greenhouse Effect

We’ve said it before and we will say it again, bringing the outdoors in will really make your room come alive. In our previous blog post, we predicted 2017 trends and tropical prints, greenery and jungle themes were in the running to be the biggest leading trend.

Being known as ‘jungalow’, we are encouraging homeowners to bring the greenery indoors with exotic prints, large leave designs and wallpapers that are of the jungle theme. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune and can be done in stages so that you can get the right kind of greenhouse effect without turning your home into a living jungle!

3.      Paint Happy

Paint doesn’t have to be expensive and it also doesn’t have to be magnolia. Although magnolia can be the winning choice for some homeowners, it doesn’t have to be the paint you choose to put on your walls.

Try something new and do half and half wall designs in a plain and leading feature colour. Who says you have to stick to one colour all the way round? As leading designers for both domestic and commercial clients, we are well aware of the leading painting techniques to make a room really deliver that wow factor.

4.      Prints, Prints and More Prints

Prints can be both charming and headache if not applied properly in your home. Stuart Wylie have some experiences where clients have been re-decorating and removing prints they once loved and now hate, so its important to choose something that you not only fall in love with but something that can stand the test of time and not go out of fashion.

Whether you choose to put a print on one wall, all of them or just on the floor, adding a print ups the dynamics of your property within an instant and can be done fairly inexpensively. By paying attention to the way patterns run with your room, you can even make it look bigger than it is and open up space rather than close it off.

5.      Get Funky

Why not get funky with it and create the room of your dreams. No one says you have to stay with the normal designs so if you see something you love, bring into your room!

Stuart Wylie is quite often working on bespoke decorating services and recently added a sheep mural to a bathroom for one of our clients in Essex. We never judge and love to try new things so put your thinking cap on and bring the funky to formal!
